Few breakfast dishes are as beloved as French toast. With its perfectly golden, crisp exterior and soft, custardy interior, this timeless classic is a surefire way to elevate your mornings. Whether you’re hosting a brunch or treating yourself to a cozy weekend breakfast, this simple recipe is the ultimate starting point. But why stop at classic when there are so many delicious ways to make it your own? Let’s dive into the recipe and some creative serving ideas that will take your French toast to the next level.
In a bowl whisk the eggs. Add the milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Whisk together well.
Heat up a skillet to 350 degrees or preheat a fry pan on medium heat. Butter the bottom of the skillet/fry pan.
Pour some of the egg mixture on a dinner plate. Quickly dip each side of each slice of bread in the egg mixture and place on to the hot buttered skillet. Don't soak the bread in the egg mixture. A quick coating on each side is perfect.
Fry the French toast for about 1-2 minutes per side or until golden brown. Flip and fry the other side 1-2 minutes.
Dust with powdered sugar, top with fruit and yogurt, or syrup. Serve immediately.
