Stovetop Sausage Mac and Cheese

Stovetop Sausage Mac and Cheese

Stovetop Sausage Mac and Cheese is a stovetop meal that is hearty and delicious!  When you need a quick and easy meal to serve your family that is kid friendly this is the perfect cheesy pasta dish.  The pasta and cheese are what kids like, along with bite sized sausage.

How about we discuss how to make this recipe and turn it into something fun for kids to eat?

Ingredients

I like to start with a fun pasta that kids will enjoy.  Something curly or a bow tie pasta is fun.

Cut the kielbasa or sausages into bite sized pieces.  To make them more fun to eat, the end pieces were the prize and called the turtle, like a Ninja Turtle shell.  This helps turn the meal into a game for the kids to see who got a turtle.

There is processed cheese, Velvetta, that gets cubed and melts into the dish.  Process cheese melts smoother and creamier than regular real cheese.  After the cheese is melted, add the fire roasted tomatoes.  Hey, you have to add some vegetables!

Cooking

Cook your pasta according to the directions on the package.  Drain it and set it aside.

In a Dutch oven pan, sauté minced garlic and the sausage in olive oil.  Add in the can of fire roasted tomatoes, onion flakes, and the processed cheese.  Now cook it until the cheese is fully melted.  Be sure to stir it often so it doesn’t scorch.

Add the pasta in with the cheese, tomatoes and the sausage mixture, stirring it well.

Serving

Stovetop Sausage Mac and Cheese is great alone, but it is even better with a piece of Warm Garlic Bread and Creamy & Delicious Grape Salad or Strawberry Fluff Salad.  We’re keeping this meal kid friendly!

Happy Cooking!
