Ground Beef and Rice Skillet
Ground Beef and Rice Skillet is the perfect quick weeknight meat dish to make. It’s fast, it’s easy, and it’s tasty! Other benefit of this meat dish is that it is budget friendly, and by adding in the rice it helps create more servings too. It has no special ingredients. All the ingredients are likely already in your kitchen.
This recipe originated from my mother. I learned how to make it when I was a young girl. It is likely that I’ve changed up some of the ingredients, but it is pretty close to how she would make it. My mom was very creative in the kitchen. She knew how to make a budget friendly meal and how to stretch it out to make more servings.
Ingredients
This recipe needs ground beef, instant rice, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, chili powder, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, onion flakes, and water. All the ingredients, minus the ground beef and the rice of course, make a type of barbeque sauce and that is where the flavor comes from. So, it is like a barbeque ground beef and rice type of meat dish.
Cooking
Basically, the ground beef gets browned in a medium saucepan and drained. Then the ground beef is put back in the pan and all the other ingredients are added too. Then it needs to simmer until the instant rice is tender. You’ll need to stir it occasionally while it’s cooking. As it cooks the flavors from all of the ingredients combine together to create a very flavorful meat dish.
This meat dish reheats well in the microwave too.
Serving
Oh, this is the best part. Ground Beef and Rice Skillet tastes spectacular with Cheesy Mashed Potatoes and corn. These flavors go together like barbeque ribs go with corn on the cob.
Other delicious side dishes with it would be Easy Boiled Garlic Potatoes and green beans.
Keep this recipe in mind when you need a quick weeknight meal.
