Cinnamon Apple Syrup

Cinnamon Apple Syrup

Cinnamon Apple syrup is about as close as you can get to having apple pie for breakfast without actually having apple pie for breakfast.  It makes your pancakes, waffles, or French Toast taste like dessert for breakfast.  It’s a delicious twist on breakfast syrup.

Did I mention how wonderful your kitchen will smell as this is cooking?  This is a very Fall smell and flavor, but it can be eaten anytime of the year.

The Ingredients

The ingredients are very simple and easy to put together.  You will want to use a very sweet or a tart apple.  I used a Granny Smith apple.  I like the sweet tartness that Granny Smith apples give to Cinnamon Apple Syrup when you bite into an apple it and you get that slight tart flavor.

The vanilla I used was my homemade vanilla.  If that is something you have never done before I encourage you to give it a try.  It is really easy, and it is so tasty.

Cooking

Melt the butter in a fry pan and add the apple pieces and cinnamon.  Frying them together blends the flavors together, but it doesn’t make the apples crispy.  Then you add syrup, and the vanilla.  The syrup can be any syrup.  It doesn’t need to be real maple syrup.

You can cook this right before the meal, or you can make it earlier and reheat it before serving it.

Serving

This is wonderful on pancakes, waffles, or French Toast.  Since I wanted really fluffy pancakes for the Cinnamon Apple Syrup.  I made the pancake batter thicker than I normally would.  It was a delicious decision.  The fluffy pancakes tasted wonderful with Cinnamon Apple Syrup.  Then I finished off the pancakes with some whipped cream.  A dollop of vanilla yogurt would be even better!  How about a sprinkle of chopped pecans?  And a good cup of coffee…….

Happy Cooking!
