Let’s dive into the world of sweet, cinnamon-spiced perfection!

Why You’ll Love These Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

  • Soft and fluffy texture – Perfectly risen dough creates a light and airy bite.
  • Rich cinnamon-sugar filling – The ideal balance of sweetness and spice.
  • Perfect for any occasion – Whether it’s a cozy weekend breakfast or a holiday brunch, these rolls are always a hit!

Ingredients for Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Dough:

  • 2 cups water (room temperature)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 6 tbsp butter (room temperature)
  • 6⅔ cups flour
  • ⅔ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 6½ tsp yeast (or 2 packets)
  • Extra flour for rolling dough

Filling:

  • 6 tbsp butter (room temperature)
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine water, eggs, butter, flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Using a kneading hook attachment on a mixer, blend until the dough forms a ball (approximately 5 minutes). Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.

2. Roll and Fill the Dough

Lightly flour your work surface and knead the dough 3-4 times to release air bubbles. Roll it into a 12×24-inch rectangle. Evenly spread the room-temperature butter over the dough, then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.

3. Shape the Rolls

Starting from the long end, roll the dough into a log and slice it into 12 even pieces using a knife or dental floss for clean cuts. Place the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan.

4. Second Rise

Cover the rolls with greased plastic wrap and let them rise for another hour in a warm place until they double in size.

5. Bake to Perfection

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Remove the plastic wrap and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before icing with a cream cheese cinnamon roll frosting.

Tips for the Best Cinnamon Rolls

  • Use room-temperature ingredients for a smoother dough.
  • Create a warm place to raise your dough, by bringing a pan of water to a boil and turn off the heat. Place the rolls near the pan of hot water.
  • Roll the dough tightly to prevent gaps in the cinnamon swirl.
  • Use dental floss instead of a knife for clean, even cuts.

  • 6 tbsp Butter room temperature
  • ½ cup Sugar
