Children can get many presents at Christmas time. Often it is another toy. We give children many presents simply because they love to unwrap them, and we love watching them unwrap them. So, I’ve put together list of 5 Christmas gifts children will love getting that are not all toys.
Giver or a Receiver
Are you a giver or a receiver? I think for givers, their happiness comes from the joy and pleasure in finding the perfect gift that you feel the recipient will love and enjoy. On the other hand, if you prefer to receive, you might prefer to receive because you can be overwhelmed by the idea of shopping for others whether it is the cost or making the decision on what to give or will they like it? The decision can be difficult when you really want to get that perfect give, that is so perfect you cannot decide. Or you can just be that adult that becomes a kid again and loves tearing into a present. Whichever one you are a giver or a receiver, enjoy it! It’s what it is meant to be.
5 Christmas Gifts Children will Love Getting
As a giver I like giving multiple gifts to my family for Christmas. Each year I tell myself, 1 gift per person. You can do this, and then they’re getting several. I’ve finally accepted, that this is just me and that’s OK, as long as I can financially do this.
My grandchildren have many toys and get many more throughout the year, birthdays, rewards, incentives, and sometimes, just because. Which means at Christmas they do not need several toys. So, I’ve devised a plan that helps givers give many gifts that children love to receive and open, while still limiting the number of toys they receive. I try to divide their gifts out in 5 different categories.
- Toy
- Book
- Pajamas for boys or girls
- Clothing, such as a top or sweatsuit boys or girls
- Game or an activity item (football, craft set, etc…)
You can change these up a bit too by adding some practical items that you will be buying for your children or grandchildren around this time of the year, wrap them up and let them enjoy opening them as well. Gifts of time are great too. If your child can read, make a coupon for a one-on-one date with you. Make the coupon be something they enjoy and would want to do with you. Some ideas could be 1 hour of playing maybe it’s trucks, building something, dolls, etc…. When you play with them, make it imaginative and silly. Those are the ones my grandchildren love and create the lost laughter.
Whatever you decide, keep the joy and excitement of Christmas alive for your child and yourself. All the wonders and joys of Christmas were created by parents and grandparents.
